June 1, 2000…we opened our first retail store at 5221 Hillsborough St.
Our mother, Joyce, and we 2 daughters (Liz & Chrissy) went out on a limb in everyway you can imagine. We renovated a crusty, old building in 3 weeks and found enough inventory and consigment to fill it up and make it look intriquing! And…The Eclectic Garden was born!

9 years later….we operate in our own building (thanks to Mom’s investment in a property) which (again) was a crusty, old building that we had renovated. Our doors opened here on May 1, 2004, and we have been successfully doing our thing since.

We have survived the ups and downs of the economy….
We have endured the personal crises of Mom having Lymphoma 2 times while remaining the only “full-timer” on staff…
We have kept things running during 4 pregnancies and the births of
our four little boys (Liz has 2 and Chrissy has 2)…
We have stayed true to the core of our business while being flexible enough to try new things and reinvent ourself…
Our biggest reinvention was altering our name to now be:
THE ECLECTIC FURNITURE GARDEN

MAY is the month we start back up our BASIC FURNITURE PAINTING CLASSES….

Session I: Tue & Thurs, May 5 & 7, 6:30-8:30 pm…………….This Class is FULL

Session II: Tue & Thurs May 12 & 14, 6:30-8:30 pm……………….There are a FEW spaces left

Learn the basics using all our supplies. You bring the furniture (a small piece like a chair or side table). 2 Hours per night. Call for details and to reserve your space. $80 per person plus tax.
